Birmingham Heart Clinic, PC
Birmingham
Heart Clinic is a cardiology practice specializing in the detection,
management and treatment of adult coronary, peripheral (PAD) and carotid
diseases. With the addition of Dr. Michael S. Bailey, board certified
cardiac electrophysiologist, Birmingham Heart Clinic offers invasive
and non-invasive treatment for comprehensive cardiac arrhythmia disorders.
The practice has been experiencing steady growth since its inception
in 1994. In 2001, they relocated to the new Pilot Medical Park office
complex located in the Trussville, Alabama area at 100 Pilot Medical
Drive, just a few blocks away from St. Vincent’s East (Medical
Center East) hospital. The new Birmingham Heart Clinic facility contains
clinical offices, an active research department and a full range of diagnostic
equipment. The on-site diagnostic facility was one of Birmingham’s
first to earn accreditation by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation
of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL) and was one of the first 1000
echocardiography labs in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico to
be recognized for its commitment to high quality patient care and diagnostic
testing. In 2008, the diagnostic facility continued its pursuit of excellence
and received its remaining accreditations in nuclear cardiology (ICANL)
and computed tomography (ICACTL). Diagnostic testing services offered
at Birmingham Heart Clinic include echocardiograms, EKG’s, nuclear
stress testing, Doppler carotid artery evaluations, non-invasive flow
studies of the lower extremity arteries and veins, and cardiac pacemaker
and defibrillator testing/follow-up. In addition, Birmingham Heart Clinic
utilizes the 2006 Best in KLAS award winning Toshiba 64-slice CT scanner
to potentially reduce patients’ need for invasive heart catheterization
studies.
In 2007, Birmingham Heart Clinic continued its expansion by adding a
satellite clinic location in Hoover, Alabama, located in Suite 100 of
the St. Vincent’s One Nineteen Health and Wellness facility which
is located near the corner of Cahaba Valley Road (highway 119) and highway
280. Diagnostic testing services offered at this location include echocardiograms,
EKG’s, and nuclear stress testing. In 2008, Birmingham Heart Clinic
expanded into St. Clair county by adding an additional satellite location
at Northside Medical Associates, in Pell City, Alabama.
Physicians in
Birmingham Heart Clinic include Michael Simpson, MD; Van Reeder, MD;
Robert Foster, MD; Andrew Brian, MD; Brian Snoddy, MD; Harold
Settle, MD; James Trimm, MD, Michael Bailey, MD and Jason Thompson,

acknowledged Birmingham Heart Clinic physicians as national leaders
and a Center of Excellence for Coronary and Peripheral Laser Ablation
therapy,
only the second group in the U.S. to receive this honor. Several Birmingham
Heart Clinic physicians are on the Clinical Faculty for UAB Medical
School and actively participate in teaching nurses, medical students,
interns,
and residents. Efforts are underway to recruit additional, specialized
cardiologists to continue to meet the medical needs of greater Birmingham
and north Alabama.
Birmingham Heart Clinic is committed to providing patients high quality,
compassionate health care. The physicians and staff accomplish this
by putting the patient first. They utilize optimal diagnostic equipment,
procedures and techniques, while working closely with primary care
physicians
to help the patient make informed decisions about their care.
